Matthew H. Smith,
M.D. - Dr. Smith is a 1974 graduate of
Haverford College. He earned his Medical degree in 1978 from the University of
Pittsburgh. He served a medical internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit,
Michigan, and a medical residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in
Philadelphia. After completing his fellowship at the Medical College of
Pennsylvania in 1983, he entered private practice in the Edison area. He has
served as the Chairman of the Internal Medicine Quality Improvement Committee
at JFK Medical Center and Vice Chairman of the Judicial and Medical Ethics
Committee of the Middlesex County Medical Society for ten years. He is Board
Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine, and is active in the
local physician community, currently serving as Vice-President of the J.F.K.
Medical Center's Medical-Dental Staff.
David S. Goldstein, M.D. - Dr.
Goldstein is a 1976 graduate of Brandeis University, and he earned his medical
degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1980. He served his
internship, residency, and fellowship at Einstein, finishing in 1985. He joined
Pulmonary Internists that same year, while maintaining a teaching appointment
at Einstein, where he currently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of
Medicine. Dr. Goldstein maintains an active interest in sleep medicine. He is
the medical director of the Sleep Disorders Center of New Jersey, and he
frequently lectures to the public and the medical community about sleep
disorders. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and
Sleep Medicine.
Barry Z. Wolf,
M.D. - Dr. Wolf joined Pulmonary Internists in
1988 after a remarkable training period. He is a 1978 Honors graduate of Touro
College, and a 1982 graduate of New York University School of Medicine, where
he was elected to the medical honor society. He served a internship and
residency at New York VA/Bellvue Hospital/NYU Medical Center, and a
distinguished year as the Chief Resident. Dr. Wolf remained at the Medical
Center for his specialty training, and also received a teaching appointment at
New York University. He has served as the Chairman of the Respiratory Care
Committee and Director of Respiratory Therapy at JFK Medical Center for the
past five years, and he is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary
Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Wolf has been repeatedly cited as one
of the areas outstanding physicians in multiple publications including New
Jersey Monthly, New York Magazine, and Castle Connelly
Guide.
Martin J. Sheehy, M.D.
- Dr. Sheehy completed his undergraduate
degree at College of Holy Cross in 1962, and medical school at Boston
University in 1966. He served a medical residency at Philadelphia General
Hospital, and his Pulmonary fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in
1970. Dr. Sheehy served as Chief of Internal Medicine at Shaw Air Force Base
from 1970-72. Prior to joining Pulmonary Internists in 1989, Dr. Sheehy was in
full time practice at JFK Medical Center where he served in many capacities
including Associate Director of the Family Practice Residency Program, Director
of Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and Medical Director of Hartwyk Nursing Home. Dr.
Sheehy is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and
Geriatrics.
Lisa M. Casale, M.D.
- Dr. Casale joined Pulmonary Internists in
1994. She is a 1984 honors graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and she
completed medical school at Temple University School of Medicine in 1988. She
served her internship, residency, and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care
at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. She serves on the Critical care
Committee at JFK Medical Center. Dr. Casale is Board Certified in Internal
Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.
Neil Shinder, M.D. - Dr. Shinder is Pulmonary Internists' newest physician, joining
the group in 1998. Dr. Shinder is a native of Montreal. He completed his
undergraduate degree in 1987, and medical school in 1991, both at McGill
University in Montreal . He served his internship, residency at the University
of Toronto, and a two-year fellowship at Queen's University in Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Shinder then completed a two year fellowship at New York Hospital-Cornell
Medical Center in New York in 1998. He Is Board Certified in Internal Medicine,
Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.
